I have maintained a private practice as a Clinical Psychologist in New York City (as well as an online presence) since 1985.
I believe that each unique individual deserves their own unique, specific and engaging treatment plan.I have found that strictly adhering to either cognitive or insight-oriented approaches are too limiting and that concepts from both approaches can be valuable as long as the focus remains on “the therapeutic alliance”.
Depression is a mental illness, which one should not confuse with the short-term emotional distress, anxiety attacks or feeling low, which also are constituents of depression.
Social phobia, specific phobia, post-traumatic stress disorder, general anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or similar, all fall under the category of anxiety disorder, and calls for clinical and therapeutic treatment.
Many of life’s demands can cause stress, particularly work, relationships and money problems. Stress can affect how you feel, think, behave and how your body works.
Sometimes children need specifically-tailored options in order to engage them in treatment. Adolescents often feel the most troubled, but they are also the ones who can show the most positive change.
Relationship problems can be the focus of either individual or “conjoint” therapy. The goals are to help improve communication and coping skills.
I provide online video sessions for those patients who would benefit from them. Other services include private chat rooms as well as online interactive games for children.
